Dr Jenner Museum - Our First Public Consultation Event

Last week myself and Matthew Tanner joined the team at Dr Jenner's House (The Jenner Trust) in the Cyder House, right alongside The Chantry, for an early public consultation event on the Re-Jenner-ation project, and what a wonderful evening it was.

The evening began with the Museum’s volunteers and trustees, whose day-to-day knowledge of the site has already shaped so much of our project thinking. The doors were then opened to the wider community, with Berkeley residents, members of local history groups and project stakeholders sharing their views on the early site strategy options.

The conversations were a real highlight. We spoke with former employees and people with personal connections to the site, each bringing memories and stories that no archive or survey could provide. Hearing how deeply The Chantry and gardens are woven into people’s own histories was a powerful reminder of what this project is working to protect.

This feedback will help shape the preferred site strategy as the project moves towards a National Lottery Heritage Fund Development Stage submission.
